Scammers will send text messages saying there is suspicious activity on your bank account or you’ll get a pop-up message regarding an antivirus on your device. These events will lead to a scammer asking you to share your screen so they can steal account and login information and other personal or financial information. Follow these tips to avoid a screen share scam like this:
* Verify: Confirm the identity of the person asking you to share.
* Think: Never share your screen with strangers who call or text you. No bank employee will ask you to switch to using FaceTime or Google Meet.
* Protect: Be cautious if you receive unusual instructions. Protect your personal and financial information.
* Contact your bank and any business using trusted numbers.
