Scammers work full time to steal our money and identity. Their stories and schemes are meant to confuse us so that we share our personal and financial information. If you feel pressured or confused, it’s ok to hang up. If it sounds too good to be true, it likely is! Avoid any type of scam with this advice:
– Be skeptical of every call, email, and text.
– Avoid clicking suspicious links.
– Be wary of scare tactics.
– Protect your personal AND financial information.
– Monitor bank and credit card statements.
– Use trusted phone numbers and websites when in doubt.
If you know someone who has been scammed, report the scam to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and to the FBI at ic3.gov.
